Well, this is the first entry of my blog.  Life is difficult right now as I’m struggling to find a job or decide what to do next in my life.  As a background, I have just returned from living in China for three years where I worked as an investment banker doing M&A for tech. and media companies.  I speak fluent mandarin and have a degree from a top 10 university.  Still, I’ve found it aggonizingly difficult to find a job right now.  Reasons for this can include:

  •  Work experience too specialized
  • Bad interviewer (I sometimes stumble on the rapid response quantitative questions)
  • Slowing economy
  • Not talking to the right people/positions
  • Career focus unclear

Of the reasons mentioned above, I believe the top two are the most obstructive in my job search.  I would also seriously consider enterpreneurship.  My latest ideas (I have about 1 per week) include sourcing linens in China and selling them to the hotel industry in the US (I have a great sales resource), and becoming a specialized full-service real estate agent/tour operator for the booming class of Chinese investors interested in purchasing US homes.

If anybody has ideas please let me know, I’m all ears.
